Summer is here and that means it’s the perfect season for grilling fresh vegetables and salmon. If you live in an apartment like me though, you may miss out on the joys of summer grilling.
To capture the season tastes, I defer to my cast iron skillet instead to create yummy summer meals. Unfortunately, the summer meal smell often infiltrates the entire kitchen.
What to do?
Step 1: Wash all pots, pans and dishes used for your meal, or put into the dishwasher.

Step 2: Wipe down your stove top (especially important if any cooking grease or oil splashed about) with a kitchen counter spray. I love Mrs. Meyer’s brand in the Lemon Verbena or Basil fragrance.
Step 3: Open a few windows in your apartment to get the air flow moving again.
Step 4: Fill a shallow stove top pan with one part vinegar and one part water. Add a few pieces of citrus peel or lemon juice. Simmer the mixture on the stove for about 30 minutes to an hour. Replenish the mixture as needed. After an hour turn off the stove but leave the pan for several more hours before disposing.
Voila!
